A Brief Introduction
The department of sculpture was created in early fifties by the eminent modern Indian sculptor Ramkinker Baij under the guidance of Late
 Nandalal bose understanding the need of three dimensional art practice in santinketan as well as India itself the place also known as
Kalabhavana which is the part of the prestigious university created by Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore.
The department has progressed in various ways since its inception and now hosts not only academic and degree courses related to sculpture
but also a space for various workshops and seminars on sculpture.
The department attracts students from all over India,and also various parts of the world presently we have students from Korea,Japan,
Thailand,Germany,Canada and Bangladesh.

Bronze Casting Facilities and technical support.
The department has a large space and technical support in creating works of art in metal specially bronze, various
 methods of metal casting are used .We have a proper lost wax technique facility along with various indigenious
traditional casting facilities among them Dokra Casting is worth to be mentioned because of its interesting traditional style.
